Gideon's Guys

God loves to win under impossible odds.   Abraham became a dad in his second century.  Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego sat fireside, enjoying a cold beverage with a friend.  A virgin birth.

And so with Gideon’s army.

They began with unbalanced odds.  Gideon’s 32,000 soldiers against the Midianites’ 135K.  Over four times the human strength.  But God said to Gideon:  “You have too many warriors with you.  If I let all of you fight the Midianites, the Israelites will boast to Me that they saved themselves by their own strength.”  (Judges 7:2)  So he sent two-thirds of Gideon’s homeboys packin’.

And of course, because human power is pointless, Gideon massacred the enemy.

Are you feeling overwhelmed?  Under powered?  Facing an impossible situation?

Be ye glad.  You’re strategically staged to watch God work.

Simmer: What has you worried that you’re trying to battle in your own strength? What do you need to surrender? What verse(s) will you memorize this week to strengthen your Spirit?
